Images, quieter than words

My friend Caleb Ludwick received a grant to write a collection of short stories, each enhanced by a graphic designer he handpicked. He gave me an amazing piece, roughly 25 vignettes that collectively paint a picture of a hopeful immigrant's life in the South. I loved the story so much that I didn't want to distract with the layout. So I opted to create illustrations that enhance what he wrote, sometimes abstractly and sometimes directly. This insidious image is one I'm particularly proud of and I hope it makes you want to read his book. Check the link above to glimpse at more of his ongoing project. I believe it wraps this summer.
