Breakfast Sketch for a Type Designer

AIGA Boston has asked me to contribute a letterform illustration for an upcoming tribute to local typography icon Matthew Carter. I was assigned the letter "T", rich with homophonic (can it be an adjective?) meaning in Boston, from the original tea party to our beloved public transport system whose logo was designed by Chermayeff Geismar in 1964.

Just the first thing that popped into my head but it's not directly related to his work. Since this is sketch numero uno I have plenty of room for input and new ideas. Just comment if you have something to share. I plan to intermittently post my progress.
